Sher Olson's Barn Buddies
We all share our 35 acre home, in Deer Trail CO - 30 acres are devoted the Equine Crew!
"Kiowa" or Ki for short ... grade Welsh/Shetland pony mare, 10 yrs old, 11.2 hands.  She is trained for hand led saddle rides, also
bit'n'bridle for trails.  She lends a hoof in our family pony ride business, plus basic riding lessons.
"Lucky Lil Lad RMT"   Border Collie (unusual Blue Merle Tri, with blue eyes), registered ABCA, ASDR, CKC.
Pics as a 2 mth old, 2 yr old.  Border Collies have strong working instincts & need an active lifestyle!
Laddie is such an awesome boy!  His momma's pride n' joy!   :-
He has given us gorgeous sons & daughters, many carrying on his handsome looks.
"Morning Mist" aka Misty grade QuarterHorse/Arabian mare, 20 yrs old, 13.3 hands.  That is Misty and 5' tall me, in the first
photo - I'm playing with her ears as the ol' girl "puts up" with my antics.  :-)  She is a very reliable, very calm trail horse.  A great little girl!
She is a great "babysitter" on the trails for our guests 150 lbs or less.  She helps out in the family pony ride business even, giving rides
for the older kids too big for the little Welsh-Shetland pony "Kiowa".  The perfect all around family horse!
"GingerSnap"  grade Miniature horse mare, 5 yrs old, 7.2 hands.
Ginger comes to birthday parties, where the kids brush and decorate her with barrettes - she loves it!
Ginger would sit in one's lap, if she could talk you into it.    :-)
"EllieMae Clampett"  grade Haflinger mare, 17 yrs old, 13.2 hands.  Ellie is a very experienced trail horse, if somewhat
"opinionated".     :-)     She is short & built like a "bull dog" - very drafty conformation (muscular.)   She has packed elk, been driven in cart,
been a pre-teen's trail horse in the mountains!        :-)

back into full health.

Here (left) we are on a back country camping
trip August 2009.  We rode to the top of the
Continental Divide - from Bruno Gulch.  I like
to camp in this spot, several times each
summer  :-)
"Amika" aka Mickey - registered American Haflinger Registry .. # 1110-84  He is 26 yrs old, 13.3 hands.  Before our home, he was
with the same family for 20 years - his owner was given him when she was a child, by her mother who raised Haflingers for competition.
Mickey was her first HunterJumper pony, as a kid.  They did arena, parades, and tons of trail riding together.  Now grown, and with her
sixth daughter of her own, on the way, and none of her girls really into horses - she offered Mickey for carefully screened adoption.
Mickey has quickly become one of our favorites - he might be older, but he's proven to be priceless in reliability under saddle, and a
steady goer even on the back country trails!  You'd never guess his age, seeing him chug along!
"Muffins MSC" aka Muffin - registered American Haflinger Registry # 2774-89 ... 21 yrs old, 14.1hands.  Before our home, she
was a trail riding mount, and broodmare.  Muffin was Amish trained - too much pavement time at too young an age had passed on some
arthritis.  She came to us from the same owner as Mickey, who needed both horses to be placed.   :-)  Muffin is now on loan to a close
family friend, and is mostly ridden by her 9 yr old daughter, in 4-H .. plus light trail riding.
Muffin - our "Lady of the Lake", for
all of us King Arthur mythos fans!
